Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an 8-0 lead, but Purdue answered with a 29-2 run that it stretched to a 43-18 halftime lead. The Boilermakers started the second half with a 19-1 run that spanned 6:09 and would lead by as many as 58 points before settling on a final score of 89-33.
The Purdue defense was dominant in today's game, forcing 30 turnovers with 19 steals and seven blocked shots. The Boilermakers only committed 11 turnovers of their own and outrebounded the Blue Raiders 45-23.
Purdue had five players reach double-figure scoring. In addition to Ostarello and Mingo, KK Houser contributed 13 points, Courtney Moses added 11 and freshman April Wilson dropped in 10. Balance was the theme of the day as nine players scored six or more points and six players had four or more rebounds.
Purdue held Lindsey Wilson to a record for low points in an exhibition game as the Blue Raiders scored 33 points. The previous record was 34 points against the Netherlands in 2003. The 56-point margin ties for Purdue's third-highest margin in exhibition history, set against Indianapolis in 2010.
This was the second meeting between Purdue and Lindsey Wilson College in exhibition play and the second win for the Boilermakers against the NAIA school from Columbia, Ky.
Purdue opens the regular season Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. against USC Upstate in Mackey Arena.
