ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) - Sam Ostarello had 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to help No. 14 Purdue beat Wake Forest 67-53 on Friday night in the Paradise Jam.
It was Ostarello's second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career.Chantel Poston and Courtney Moses each added 11 points and KK Houser chipped in 10 for the Boilermakers (5-0), who will face No. 2 Connecticut on Saturday night at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Trailing by seven at the half, Wake Forest (2-3) cut it to 47-46 on Dearica Hamby's layup with 9:24 left. KK Houser then scored six straight points with a three-point play and a 3-pointer that started a 15-5 run. Poston closed the burst with a layup and then a free throw with 2:22 left that made it 62-51.
Purdue hit five of six free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Chelsea Douglas scored 16 points, and Hamby added 12 for the Demon Deacons.
Purdue outrebounded Wake Forest 40-29 and hit 5-of-10 three-pointers for 50.0 percent. Moses was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and Houser was 2-of-4 from long range. Ostarello also led Purdue with four assists and Moses had a game-high three steals.
