WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team shot 600 (+24) as a team on Sunday to earn runner-up honors at the 36-hole Purdue/Midwest Shootout at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Valparaiso claimed the event title with a two-round total of 598 (+22).
Junior Adam Schenk paced the Purdue lineup with a three-over 147, good for a share of third place, while freshman Jonathan DiIanni, sophomore Justin Cho and redshirt freshman Enzo Perez each finished in a tie for 11th place with totals of 151 (+7). Sophomore Ben-Marvin Egel rounded out the Boilermaker lineup in a tie for 31st with a tally of 158 (+14).
Redshirt freshman David Cooke led a five-man group of Boilermakers playing as individuals with a 147 (+3), tying Schenk for the third position on the leader board. Sophomore Edward Peters shot 150 (+6) to tie for sixth place, freshman Stuart Macdonaldtied for 21st with a score of 155 (+11) and senior Jakob Ziegler and redshirt freshman Jake Thompson each shot 158 (+14) to finish with shares of 31st place.
The Boilers will be idle next weekend as they prepare for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at the renowned Olympia Fields Country Club from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
