Boilermakers Tied for Ninth at NCAA Ann Arbor Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Purdue men's golf team finished the first round of the NCAA central regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., tied for ninth place with Notre Dame with a total of 291 strokes. The Boilermakers were seven over par and 13 strokes behind leader TCU.

Senior Tyler Duncan led the way for the Boilermakers, finishing one under par through 18 holes. He shot a 70 for the first round and is tied for ninth place with six other players.

Right behind him and tied for 15th place was sophomore Adam Schenk, who shot an even 71. Redshirt freshman Enzo Perez was two over with his 73 and tied for 31st. Rounding out the Boilermaker squad were freshmen Ben-Marvin Egel with 77 (+6) and Justin Cho with 79 (+8).

TCU ended the first day as the only team to finish under par. The Hornfrogs were six strokes below par and eight strokes ahead of the No. 2 team, Kent State, who was two over. Every team ahead of Purdue, except North Carolina State, is currently ranked.

The Boilermakers made their ninth NCAA Regional appearance in program history today, and their second in as many years. The top five teams from each of the six regions, as well as the top individual on a non-advancing team from each site, will advance to the NCAA Championships at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Purdue will tee of tomorrow at 8 a.m. at hole No. 10. The Boilermakers will be paired with Oklahoma State and North Carolina State. Live scoring for day two of the NCAA Ann Arbor regional will be available at golfstatresults.com.
