FRENCH LICK, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team tied for the second-best round in the field with a three-over 291 on Sunday to finish in fifth place at the Big Ten Championships at French Lick Resort.
The Boilermakers finished the 72-hole event with a total of 1,202 (+50). Illinois won the team title with a mark of 1,175 (+23).
Sophomore Adam Schenk was the Boilers' top finisher on the individual leader board, tying for eighth place with a total of 296 (+8). The Vincennes, Ind., native shot 75 (+3) on Sunday to wrap up his second top-10 showing at the Big Ten Championships in as many collegiate seasons.
Senior Tyler Duncan provided a spark for Purdue on Sunday, firing a final-round 69 (-3) to move into a tie for 12th place. Duncan's performance matched the best score in the field on Sunday and brought his total to 298 (+10) for the tournament. It was also Duncan's seventh top-10 finish in 11 outings this season.
Senior William Sjaichudin carded Purdue's second-best score of the final round with an even-par 72, bringing his total to 299 (+11) for the tournament. Sjaichudin was the third Boilermaker to finish in the top 15 at the conference tournament, as his effort was good for a share of 15th place.
Junior Jakob Ziegler tied for 35th place with a total of 310 (+22), while freshman Justin Cho finished in a 49th-place tie with a score of 315 (+27).
The Boilers will await the selection of teams for the NCAA regional round to receive their next postseason assignment. Regional competition is set for May 17-19.
