WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Boilermaker Invitational at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in ninth place with a total of 604 (+28).
The Boilers shot a 309 (+21) in the opening round before bouncing back with a seven-over 295 in the afternoon. Kent State and Iowa share the tournament lead with matching score of 587 (+11).
Senior Tyler Duncan shot the Boilermakers' best round of the day with a second-round 71 (-1), rebounding from a seven-over 79 in the morning to tie for 25th with a total of 150 (+6). Sophomore Sam Fu also grabbed a share of 25th place after two rounds of play, posting matching rounds of 75 (+3) on the day.
Senior William Sjaichudin and freshman Justin Cho each shot 155 (+11) on Saturday to finish the day in a tie for 47th place. Cho played the afternoon round at level par, and birdied two of the day's last three holes.
Freshman Ben-Marvin Egel shot 157 (+13) on Saturday to enter into a 56th-place tie.
The final round of the Boilermaker Invitational is set to begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Live scoring will also be available at golfstatresults.com.
