WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 70 Purdue men's tennis team fell to No. 21 Indiana on Wednesday at the Schwartz Tennis Center, 6-1.

Purdue (6-7, 0-1 Big Ten) started doubles off well with a dominant win from Mark Kovacs and Diego Acosta at No. 2, 8-2. However, the Hoosiers were able to take the matches on courts one and three to win the point. Indiana's Stephen Vogl and Will Kendall won at No. 3, 8-1, and Isade Juneau and Jeremy Langer won at No. 1, 8-2. Doubles play last just under 40 minutes.

Indiana (12-3, 1-0) used the momentum from doubles in singles play. Josh MacTaggart won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-1. Juneau extended the Hoosier lead to 3-0 with a win at No. 1 over Kovacs, 6-3, 6-4. Aaron Dujovne kept the Boilermakers alive with a win at No. 5. The sophomore knocked off Dimitrije Tasic, 6-2, 6-2. Dujovne has now won four straight singles matches.

The Hoosiers clinched the match with a win at No. 4. Vogl defeated Acosta, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Langer then won at No. 3 over Szymon Tatarczyk, 7-5, 6-2. The final match was a battle between Evan Hawkins and Kendall. Kendall won the first set, 6-1, and was up 5-2 in the second. Then, Hawkins rallied back and won the next four games to take a 6-5 lead. The Boilermaker freshman would hold on to win the set, 7-6 (7-2). The match moved to a third set tiebreaker, but Hawkins came up just short, 11-9.

Indiana improves to 59-32-2 over Purdue including seven straight wins.

Purdue will return to action on Sunday as the team hosts Penn State. That match is scheduled to begin at noon at the Schwartz Tennis Center. The match will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
