No. 11 Texas A&M Beats Men's Tennis

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Krisztian Krocsko was the lone Boilermaker to win a singles match on Saturday as the No. 72 Purdue men's tennis team fell at the hands of No. 11 Texas A&M, 6-1.

Texas A&M (3-0) got off to a good start as they took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The Aggies built their lead to 2-0 after the No. 19 singles player in the country won at No. 1. Alexis Klegou knocked off Purdue's Mark Kovacs, the No. 105 singles player in the country, 6-3, 6-4. The lead swelled to 3-0 when No. 73 Jeremy Efferding beat freshman Diego Acosta, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4.

John Lewis clinched the match for the Aggies at No. 6 when he knocked off Evan Hawkins, 6-3, 6-2. Colin Hoover then won at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2, over Szymon Tatarczyk which gave Texas A&M a 5-0 lead. Purdue (0-2) finally got on the board when Krocsko beat Jackson Withrow at No. 5, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. However, the Aggies bounced back at No. 3 with No. 104 Junior Ore defeating Aaron Dujovne, 7-6, 7-5.

The loss drops the Boilermakers to 0-1 all time against Texas A&M. It also extends Purdue's losing streak to the Big 12 to seven straight matches.

The loss puts the Boilermakers into the consolation final which will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Purdue will face No. 63 Princeton (0-1) which lost on Saturday to No. 11 Mississippi State, 4-0, all in straight sets.
