Men's Golf Tied For Sixth, Not Far Off Pace At Bridgestone

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Purdue men's golf team shot 297 (+9) as a team on Saturday to finish the first day of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in a tie for sixth place, just six shots off the lead.

The Boilermakers will head into Sunday's final round just six shots behind leader South Carolina. The tournament has been shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather in the Greensboro area.

Duncan rebounded from a tough start to play two-under over his last 13 holes, and head into the clubhouse tied for ninth place with a score of 216 (E). The Columbus, Ind., native is just two strokes off the pace in the hunt for the individual medal.

Freshman Ben-Marvin Egel used a timely birdie on his final hole of the day to wrap up the day in a tie for 20th place at 74 (+2), while sophomore Adam Schenk played his way to a share of 30th place on day one with a 75 (+3).

Redshirt freshman Enzo Perez shot 76 (+4) to finish the day tied for 44th, while freshman Justin Cho carded a first-round 77 (+5) to wrap up day one with a share of 60th place.

The final 18 holes of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate will commence at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday. Live results will be available at golfstat.com.
