SKOKIE, Ill. - The Purdue men's golf team shot three-over as a group in the first round of the Windon Memorial Classic on Sunday morning and was in sixth place when second-round play was suspended due to darkness.
Redshirt freshman Enzo Perez and freshman Ben-Marvin Egel finished the day tied for 24th at two-over after firing rounds of 70 (E) and 71 (+1), respectively, in the first round.
Sophomore Adam Schenk also shot 71 in the morning session, and stood in a tie for 32nd at +3 when play was called. Freshman Justin Cho, even on the second round through 16 holes, will open play on Monday in a tie for 36th at +4, while senior Tyler Duncan will tee off in the second round in a tie for 43rd at +5.
Junior Jakob Ziegler, playing the tournament as an individual, notched a one-under 69 in the opening round, and hit the clubhouse in a tie for 13th at even par when darkness set upon the course.
The Windon Memorial will be completed on Monday when competitors complete the second round and take part in the third round, beginning with a shotgun start. Live results will be available at golfstatresults.com.
