SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The Purdue men's golf team recorded a team score of 299 (+15) on Sunday to wrap up the Northern Intercollegiate in a tie for sixth place.
The Boilermakers finished the weekend with a total of 891 (+39) to match Big Ten foe Illinois for sixth place, 21 strokes behind champion Central Florida.
Senior Tyler Duncan, the reigning Big Ten Golfer of the Week, continued his hot start to the season, posting a final-round 70 (-1) to move into a tie for third place, just one shot away from earning a share of the individual medal. The Columbus, Ind., native shot 213 (E) for the tournament, and has been at par or better in five of six rounds this season.
Sophomore Adam Schenk finished the weekend in a tie for 25th place with a total of 227 (+14), while senior William Sjaichudin tallied a score of 228 (+15) to earn a share of 32nd place. Junior Jakob Ziegler and sophomore Sam Fu both tied for 39th place with totals of 229 (+16).
Freshman Ben-Marvin Egel, playing as an individual, finished in a 25th-place tie with a total of 227 (+14).
The Boilermakers will be idle for month before returning to the course at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational in Dublin, Ohio, from Oct. 10-11.
