Men's Golf In Eighth At Suspended Northern Intercollegiate

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The Purdue men's golf team shot a 293 (+9) in the first round of the Northern Intercollegiate and found itself in eighth place with all five of its players having made the turn when the second round was suspended due to darkness on Saturday.

The Boilermakers concluded Saturday's competition eight strokes behind Big Ten foe Illinois, who resides in fifth place, and three shots in back of rival Indiana, who sits in seventh.

The completion of the second round, along with the final 18 holes of the tournament, from Rich Harvest Farms will take place on Sunday.

Senior Tyler Duncan shot a one-under 70 in the first round, his fourth-consecutive round at par or better, and was two over for the second round when play was halted. He will open competition on Sunday in a team-best 10th-place tie.

Sophomore Adam Schenk shot 74 (+3) in the opening round and was tied for 33rd place when the darkness arrived, while classmate Sam Fu carded a first-round 73 (+2) and currently owns a share of 43rd place. Senior William Sjaichudin and junior Jakob Ziegler both finished the day in a tie for 58th place.

Freshman Ben-Marvin Egel, playing as an individual, stands in a tie for 49th through 33 holes of action.
