WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Two Boilermakers posted red numbers and the Purdue men's golf team fired its best round of the tournament on Sunday to finish in a tie for sixth at the Big Ten Championships.
The Boilers carded a one-over 289 in the final round to finish the tournament with a total of 1,195 (+43), deadlocked with Michigan for sixth place.
Schenk shot 71 (-1) on Sunday, his second red number of the weekend, to run his total to 294 (+6) for the Championships. The effort moved him three spots up the leader board and into a tie for 10th place.
Junior William Sjaichudin shot 73 (+1) on Sunday to finish in a tie for 17th place with a total of 296 (+8), while senior Erich Johnston reeled off a one-under 71 to move into a tie for 36th place with a tally of 306 (+18).
Sophomore Henry Plager also tied for 36th with a total of 306 (+18) after firing a two-over 74 on Sunday, while freshman Sam Fu checked in at 314 (+26) for the tournament to tie for 49th place.
The Boilermakers will now await the announcement of the NCAA Regional fields, which should include Purdue for the first time since 2007. Big Ten Conference awards are slated to be announced by the league office on Monday.
