URBANA, Ill. - Junior William Sjaichudin captured his third individual medal in as many outings on Sunday, winning the Illini Spring Classic as the Purdue men's golf team tied for 10th place.
The Boilermakers carded a team total of 306 (+18) on Sunday to tie for 10th with a team score of 613 (+37).
Sjaichdin posted a two-under 70 (-2) on Sunday to finish one shot under par for the tournament with a total of 143. The Jakarta, Indonesia, native bested Northwestern's Eric Chun by one stroke for the individual title.
Sjaichudin has won the individual medal in each of Purdue's last three tournaments.
Senior Nakarintra Ratanakul finished in a tie for 29th place with total of 151 (+7), freshman Adam Schenk tied for 47th with a 12-over 156 and junior Tyler Duncan recorded a total of 164 (+20) to finish with a share of 71st place.
Senior Erich Johnston was disqualified after the opening round and his score was nullified. He shot 80 (+8) on Sunday, but was not counted in the individual standings.
Playing as an individual, junior Scott Busch tied for 71st with a total of 164 (+20).
The Boilermakers will be back in action next weekend, when they host the Boilermaker Invitational at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex as a final tuneup for the Big Ten Championships. Admission to the tournament is free.
