CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Purdue men's tennis team fell to the No. 64 Harvard Crimson on Saturday 5-2 at the Murr Tennis Center.
"We came out flat in doubles and Harvard really jumped on us early," said head coach Pawel Gajdzik. "That was the difference in the match today. We couldn't recover in singles play."
The Crimson did jump out early, claiming all three doubles wins and the first point. Freshmen Aaron Dujovne and Mark Kovacs were bested by Andy Nguyen and Alistair Felton, 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Krisztian Krocsko and senior Eric Ramos fell to Jonathan Pearlman and Casey MacMaster, 8-4, while Pawel Poziomski and Szymon Tatarczyk were beaten by Aba Omodele-Lucien and Joshua Tchan 8-5.
Kovacs was topped at No. 4 singles by Omodele-Lucien 6-1, 6-7(2), (10-8)
Dujovne clipped his opponent, Joshua Tchan, 6-2 in the first set, but the sets were evened after Tchan took the second, 3-6. To wrap up the match, Dujovne closed out to win 6-2, 3-6, (10-8).
No. 124 Krisztian Krocsko was knocked off by Jonathan Pearlman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
The Boilermakers look to rebound at No. 73 Yale on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.
