FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Boilermaker women's tennis team finished out the final day of the FGCU-Hilton Garden Inn Invitational on Monday.
The Old Gold and Black claimed doubles wins that led to two back draw titles. Sophomore Gisella Pere and junior Anna Dushkina defeated Carla Venticinque and Satjaporn Mahajaoenkul of Wichita State 8-3 in the Flight 2 doubles draw. Intercollegiate Tennis Association No. 68 doubles pair of senior Bhavani Tirumurti and sophomore Imogen Golder overpowered Kaysara Mandry and Sonia Bokhari (Louisville) 8-4 and also took their draw's consolation title.
Sophomore Mara Schmidt earned a third place seat in her singles draw with a win over Carolina de los Santos from Stetson at 6-2, 6-3. Tirumurti also brought home a singles win 6-2, 6-3 against Danielle Day of UNF. Joining her teammates with an individual victory was Pere, who defeated Sierra Sullivan (Stetson) 6-4, 6-3.
The Purdue team continues its spring term with the first dual-match of the season. On Jan. 22, the No. 50 Boilermakers take on University of Cincinnati at 1 p.m. at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
