WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker volleyball team reached the 20-win milestone for the fourth time under head coach Dave Shondell and the 15th time in program history with a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin Friday night. The 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 win also keeps Purdue in the hunt for fourth place in the Big Ten.

Sophomores Ariel Turner and Anna Drewry each tallied a match-high 11 kills to lead the way for the Boilermakers. Five other players contributed offensively. Redshirt freshman Catherine Rebarchak put down six kills, while senior Kristen Arthurs and junior Tiffany Fisher each added five. Senior setter Jaclyn Hart managed three kills and defensive specialist Blair Bashen also added one as Purdue outhit Wisconsin .265 to .144.

The Boilermakers served up six aces in the match. Rebarchak served up two, while Hart, Fisher, Cramer and sophomore Courtney Gosewisch each tallied one.

Defensively, sophomore Carly Cramer pulled up 11 digs, while Hart, Bashen and junior Emily Ehlers each were credited with six. Rebarchak added five digs. Purdue outblocked the Badgers 7-4, led by three stuff efforts by Arthurs and Drewry.

Ariel Turner put down five kills and Anna Drewry added four as Purdue hit .375 en route to a 25-22 win. The Boilermakers raced out to a 7-2 advantage as four different players tallied kills and Cramer served up an ace. Wisconsin narrowed the gap to three on three occasions, last at 9-6. Purdue then scored eight of the next 11, to make it 17-9. Arthurs, Rebarchak and Drewry added kills, while Rebarchak served up an ace during the stretch. Wisconsin countered with 11 of next 13 points, including a 7-0 run, to turn the eight-point deficit into a one-point lead at 20-19. A service error stopped the Badger rally and knotted the score at 20-20. Purdue scored five of the last seven to close out the set at 25-22. Fisher served up an ace to start the run, while Turner added two kills and Arthurs put down another before a Badger hitting error capped the set.

The Boilermakers added three more aces to their tally in the second set, which saw the team post a 25-20 win. Purdue led 7-4 early on behind a solo block and two kills by Drewry. Wisconsin took the lead at 11-10 and 13-12, but the Boilermakers pulled away with a 6-0 run. Purdue went up 18-13 after aces by Rebarchak and Gosewisch and a block by Hart and Fisher. The Badgers cut the margin to one twice, last at 20-19. The Boilermakers wrapped up the stanza with a 5-1 run. Turner tallied two kills and Hart served up an ace, before Drewry posted a kill and a solo stuff to give Purdue the 2-0 lead at intermission.

It took a come-from-behind effort, but the Boilermakers capped the sweep with a 25-20 victory in Set 3. Purdue outhit the Badgers .323 to .067 in the set as seven players managed kills. The Boilermakers took the early lead again in Set 3, scoring seven of the first 10, but Wisconsin responded with a 10-3 run of its own. Trailing 13-10, Purdue began its rally with three straight points on kills by Rebarchak, Drewry and Hart. The teams tied again at 15 and 16, before the Boilermakers pushed on to a 19-16 lead on a block by Rebarchak and Arthurs. The stuff prompted a UW timeout and another block by the pair at 21-17 brought on another Badger break. Wisconsin scored first out of the break, but Arthurs and Drewry followed with kills and Fisher added one two plays later to give Purdue its first shot at the match. A service error kept the set going, but Drewry ended it with her 11th kill of the night.

Purdue (20-10, 11-8 Big Ten) wraps up the regular season with a 7 p.m. Saturday contest with No. 10 Illinois. Fans can receive $2 admission to the match with their Purdue-Indiana football ticket stub.
