WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -JaJuan Johnson had 25 points and 11 rebounds to help No. 14 Purdue finally pull away for an 82-67 victory over pesky Oakland on Sunday night in the Chicago Invitational Challenge.

E'Twaun Moore scored 26 points, and the Boilermakers (3-0) extended their non-conference winning streak to 21 games. Johnson had 19 points and four rebounds in the first half.

Keith Benson had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Oakland, the preseason Summit League favorite.

The Golden Grizzlies (1-2) led for the first 10 minutes and had a chance to tie it at 57 on a fast break with 13 1/2 minutes left to play. But Oakland missed the layup and Purdue scored off its own fast break, igniting a 13-2 run.

Oakland never got within 10 again.

Purdue lost point guard Lewis Jackson early in the first half with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. He eventually returned and was on the court when the game ended.

But with Jackson laboring noticeably in the opening minutes, Oakland took advantage.

The Golden Grizzlies started the game with back-to-back 3-pointers and broke to a 14-5 lead. Purdue chipped away at the deficit and D.J. Byrd's 3-pointer with 9:54 left in the half gave the Boilermakers their first lead at 21-19 lead.

Oakland's Will Hudson made a 15-footer to tie it at 38, but Johnson and Moore scored all of the points in a 9-3 flurry to close the first half, giving Purdue a 45-41 advantage.

And the Boilermakers finally took control with their big second-half run.

Purdue now will face Austin Peay on Tuesday night in the second game of the tournament.

Boilermakers forward Robbie Hummel watched his first game since undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right knee. Hummel, who used crutches to get around Sunday, sustained the season-ending injury last month.
