Krocsko Advances To Qualifying At D'Novo ITA All-American Championships

Oct. 3, 2010

TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore Krisztian Krocsko was one of only 16 players left standing to advance out of singles pre-qualifying action and into the qualifying draw at the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships on Sunday.

The Virginia Commonwealth transfer removed Cal Poly's Jordan Bridge from competition 6-2, 6-4 in the third round. He moved onto the final pre-qualifying round and knocked out third-seeded player Vasko Mladenov of Texas 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

His Boilermaker teammate, freshman Mark Kovacs, also defeated his third-round foe, Zach Hunter of North Carolina 7-6, 6-4, but was eliminated in the subsequent tier by Texas Tech's Vitor Manzini 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 7-5.

Krocsko (Budapest, Hungary) challenges Virginia Tech's Corrado Degl'Incerti Tocci in the first round of qualifying Monday. Tocci received a preseason ranking of No. 109 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The 128-player qualifying draw takes three days to complete and feeds into a main draw of 64 players, out of which an overall champion will be crowned. No consolation draws exist for pre-qualifying.
