VERONA, N.Y. - The Purdue men's golf team carded a total of 304 on Monday to put the finishing touches on a season-opening victory at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate.
The Boilermakers finished the tournament with a team score of 897 (+33), withstanding a hard final-round charge by host school Missouri to win by three strokes.
Junior Tyler Duncan wrapped up the event with a two-over 74 in the final round, and paced the Boilermakers at the tournament with a score of 222 (+6). He finished in the sixth position on the leader board to mark the third top-10 finish of his collegiate career.
Purdue was also bolstered by top-10 finishes from senior Nakarintra Ratanakul and freshman Sam Fu, who both tied for 10th place with scores of 225 (+9). Ratanakul and Fu shot 77 and 78, respectively, on Monday.
Freshman Adam Schenk finished the tournament with a three-over 75 to move his total to 227 (+11), good for a 17th-place finish, while junior William Sjaichudin recorded an 80 on Monday to earn a share of 32nd place with a score of 233 (+17).
The Boilermakers will continue their busy early-season slate on Saturday, as they will play host to the Purdue/Midwest Shootout at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The 36-hole event is tentatively scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET on the Kampen Course, and there will be no charge for admission.
