Dushkina Plays For Title At Duke Fab Four Invite

Sept. 19, 2010

CARY, N.C. - The Purdue women's tennis team completed the final day of the Duke Fab Four Invitational on Sunday.

Junior Anna Dushkina (Richmond Hill, Ontario) played for the Section B consolation title today. The Boilermaker faced Duke Blue Devil Monica Gorny. The first set belonged to Gorny 6-2 over the Boiler. Dushkina rallied and kept it close in the second, but was defeated 6-2, 7-5.

Overall, the Purdue camp is satified with the invite. "This competition was extremely tough and I believe we played better as the weekend progressed; a good sign," said head coach Laura Glitz, "Anna won two tough singles matches back to back against two Big Ten opponents which was a great effort. Mara and Jenny placing third was another highlight. I thought it was a very productive tournament for the girls."

The Purdue team next heads to Big Ten Conference opponent in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the Michigan Invitational on Oct. 1-3. For full results and recaps please visit purduesports.com.
