Men's Golf In Third At Crooked Stick

CARMEL, Ind. - After a strong team effort on Monday that saw two players finish the day in the individual top 10, the Purdue men's golf team stands in third place after 36 holes of action at the Crooked Stick Invitational.

The Boilermakers shot 592 (+24) as a group on Monday, and will be just seven strokes behind No. 41 Middle Tennessee State for second place when play resumes on Tuesday morning.

Junior Erich Johnston and sophomore Tyler Duncan posted identical scores of 76 (+4) on Monday to hit the clubhouse in a tie for 10th place. Johnston led the Boilers with a one-over 72 in the first round, while Duncan's even-par 71 in the second round was the team's best round of the day.

Junior Nakarintra Ratanakul carded back-to-back 74s (+3) on day one to finish the day in a tie for 16th with a six-over total of 148, while sophomore William Sjaichudin rebounded from an eight-over 79 in the first round to post 73 (+2) in the afternoon and enter into a tie for 26th (152, +10). Junior Maximo Kopp also improved in the afternoon session, bettering his first-round score by 10 strokes with a second-round 74 (+3) to tie for 47th with a total of 158 (+16) after 36 holes.

The Boilermakers will wrap up the Crooked Stick Invitational with the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday. Live results will be available at golfstat.com.
