COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue men's swimming and diving team placed five athletes in scoring position during Sunday's afternoon session at the NCAA Championships inside the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Senior Sam Wilcher grabbed a school record and placed himself in position for All-America honors in the 200-yard butterfly. The Arlington Heights, Ill., native completed the race in 1 minute, 44.12 seconds to better his program record of 1:44.45 set while placing third at last month's Big Ten Championships. Wilcher, who had the 19th-fastest time entering the meet, qualified in 13th position for Sunday night's final.
Sophomore David Boudia earned the highest score among the 25-competitor field in the platform diving event. The Noblesville, Ind., native, who is the defending champion in the event, scored 487.10 points with his six-dive list. Junior David Colturi joins Boudia in the 'A' final after putting the eighth-highest total of 388.20 on the board.
Juniors J.P. Perez and Danny Cox also are set to score in the platform.
