Purdue Advances Two To Saturday Scoring At NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue men's swimming and diving team placed two in the 3-meter final during Saturday's afternoon session at the NCAA Championships inside the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

Sophomore David Boudia posted the third-highest score among the competitors with 438.95 points. The Noblesville, Ind., native, who is the defending champion in the 3-meter, became the first diver in NCAA history to win at least one national title from all three boards Friday evening when he took the 1-meter crown.

Junior David Colturi is set to score from the highest springboard for the first time in his career. The five-time All-American, who finished sixth in the 1-meter Friday, grabbed the 11th qualifying position with his score of 394.10 points.

Senior Kyle Mitrione scored 343.65 points for the 19th-best mark in the session. Juniors Danny Cox and J.P. Perez were 21st and 29th, respectively, with scores of 333.05 and 278.15. In the pool, senior Sam Wilcher made his championships debut and clocked a season-best time of 47.57 seconds while placing 31st in the 100-yard butterfly.

Saturday evening's session, which features finals in eight events, begins at 7 p.m. ET. The 3-meter is the seventh event on the docket and is slated to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Live results can be found at purduesports.com.
