WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 22nd-ranked Purdue women's swimming and diving team completed the first day of a three-day dual Thursday evening at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center holding a 30-4 lead over Michigan State.

In an attempt to mirror the format for next month's Big Ten Championships, the teams only contested two relay events. Purdue opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as Allie Smith, Jessica Davis, Lisa Butler and Lauren Nichols outpaced the field with a clocking of 1 minute, 43.44 seconds that stands as the fastest by a Purdue quartet this season. Ariel Martin, Christina Jacobs, Seraphina Van and Sara Bogert added more points to the Boilermakers' side of the scoreboard by finishing second in 1:45.25.

In the evening's final event, Purdue added first- and second-place points again to extend the lead. Butler, Lauren Gustafson, Caitlin Hamilton and Lauren Roth claimed the top spot with a time of 7:29.07, and were followed by Amy Gutwein, Martin, Leah Henninger and Kristen Gilson in 7:35.03.

The dual continues Friday with eight events in the pool. Action begins at 6 p.m. ET from inside the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Admission is free, and live results can be found at purduesports.com.
