GLENCOE, Ill. - The Purdue men's golf team finished up its suspended second round with a total of 296 (+12) and added a third-round 297 (+13) on Monday to conclude the Windon Memorial Classic at Skokie Country Club in a tie for eighth place with a total of 893 (+41).
The Boilermakers tied fellow Big Ten school Minnesota for eighth place, one spot ahead of 10th-place Indiana, to claim their second-consecutive top-10 finish.
After posting identical scores of 75 (+4) in the first two rounds of the tournament, junior Erich Johnston fired an even-par 71 on Monday afternoon to make a 15-spot climb up the leader board in the final round and finish in a tie for 14th place. Johnston's third-round performance, his fourth round at par or better this season, gave him a final total of 221 (+8) for the event.
Sophomore William Sjaichudin rebounded from a second-round 77 (+6) with a three-over 74 on Monday to finish with a score of 224 (+11) for the tournament, good for a share of 27th place, while junior Nakarintra Ratanakul wrapped up the second round with a one-under 70, his second red number of the season, en route to a final total of 227 (+14) and a tie for 42nd place. Junior Maximo Kopp signed his card with a three-over 74 for the second round on Monday, adding a 77 (+6) in the afternoon to tie for 47th (228, +15), and sophomore Tyler Duncan rounded out the Purdue lineup in a tie for 56th after shooting a tournament-best 75 (+4) in Monday's final round to compile a final total of 230 (+17).
Purdue will be idle for nearly two weeks before heading to Greensboro, N.C., for the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club from Oct. 24-25. Live scoring for the event will be available at golfstat.com.
