ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team wrapped up the season-opening Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Sunday, finishing in 12th place with a team total of 895 (+43) at Wolf Run Golf Club near Indianapolis.
The Boilermakers carded a final-round 297 (+13) to move one spot up the leader board after standing in a tie for 13th after the first 36 holes of competition.
Junior Erich Johnston posted his second-consecutive round of 72 (+1) to conclude the tournament with a total of 219 (+6), good for a team-best tie for 19th place. The performance at Wolf Run marked Johnston's best finish since the Fort Wayne, Ind., native earned a share of 11th place at the Windon Memorial Classic in October of 2008.
Sophomore Tyler Duncan shot 76 (+5) for the second-straight round on Sunday to finish with a score of 225 (+12) and a share of 38th place, while junior Maximo Kopp fired his best round of the tournament, a one-over 72, to tally a 227 (+14) and move into a tie for 47th place. Junior Nakarintra Ratanakul finished in a 57th-place tie with a total of 229 (+16) and freshman Arthur Kim rounded out the Purdue lineup in 78th place with a total of 238 (+25).
The Boilermakers will return to competition on Friday, when they tee off in the first round of the three-day Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. Live scoring for the event will be available at golfstat.com, and daily recaps and results will be posted at purduesports.com.
