Game One Recap
The Boilermakers jumed out to leads of 5-0 in the second and 10-7 in the seventh, only to SEMO plate six runs apiece in the home half of each inning to pull off a come-from-behind victory that sent Purdue to a fourth striaght loss.
The Boiler s plated three runs in the first on a SEMO throwing error on faiiled pickoff attempt with the bases loaded, a RBI ground out by Jonathan Lilly and a run-scoring double by John Cummins, and tacked of more in the second on back-to-back doubles by Nick Overmyer and Tyler Spillner to race out to a 5-0 edge.
The early cushion lasted up to the bottom of the second, when SEMO plated six runs on five hits. Having already cut the lead to 5-2 on RBI singles by Justin Wheeler and Louie Haseltine, outfielder Nick Harris capped off the inning with a grand slam over the left field fence to hand the Redhawks a 6-5 lead.
The two teams traded zeros in the third and fourth, before Overmyer delivered his second double of the game, this one clearing the bases for three RBIs, and Spillner adding a second RBI single to hand Purdue back the lead to 9-6.
SEMO cut in the lead with a single run in the bottom of the frame, but the Boilermakers answered with lone run in the top of the seventh to make it 10-7.
Right-hander Kevin Cahill, who opened the season with 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in two appearances in the Florida last weekend, took over for starter Matt Bischoff on the mound to open the bottom of the seventh. Cahill struggled to find the strike zone, issuing three walks, and ended up surrendering the three-run lead on a two-out bases loaded double by Jim Klocke. SEMO plated six runs on four hits and three free passes to lead 13-10 before the Boilermakers were finally able to get out of the inning.
Klocke, who start the game behind the plate as the starting catcher, took over on the mound in the eighth and tossed two scoreless innings of relief to nail down his first save of the season.
Lost in the losing effort were a couple of outstanding offensive performances, including a 3 for 5, three-RBI day by Spillner and a 3 for 4, four-RBI game by Overmyer. Overmayer, who had two doubles on the day, also scored two runs in the loss.
Game Two Recap
Junior Dan Black swatted a two-run homer in the first and Purdue plated four two-out runs in the third, as the Boilermakers snapped their four-game losing streak with a 9-2 win in the second game of the double dip.
After Brandon Haveman doubled down the right field line to lead off the night cap, Black deposited SEMO starter Greg Hendrix's 2-0 offering over the left field fence to stake Purdue to a 2-0 lead.
The Boilers tacked on four runs in the third, starting the rally after the first two outs had been recorded. David Blout started the two-out parade by drawing a walk. Blout advanced to second on a single by John Cummins and Ryan Bridges loaded the bases by getting hit by a pitch.
Alex Jaffee drove home Blout with a walk, one of three issued by Hendrix in the inning, to force the southpaw starter from the game. Jonathan Moore capped off the inning with a two-run single through the left side of the infield to make it 6-1 Purdue.

The strong outing on the mound earned the southpaw his first victory of the season. He struck out six and walked four in the victory.
Freshman lefty Blake Mascaerello tossed two scoreless innings the rest of the way to nail down the win.
Purdue and Southeast Missouri State are scheduled to play a single game on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. Eastern.
