UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Behind another strong defensive effort, Purdue knocked off Penn State 69-51 in University Park, Pa. The Boilermakers improve to 19-8 and 12-4 in the Big Ten with the victory.
Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and set the school record for career rebounds, passing former All-American Stacey Lovelace for the top spot. Wisdom-Hylton scored 12 points to go along with her 12 boards, for her 10th double-double of the year and 22nd of her career.
Purdue led by 17 points at the half, 36-19 in a game in which the Lady Lions never led. Penn State cut the lead to eight, 47-39 at the 9:56 mark on a jumper by Julia Trogele, but the Boilermakers would let them get no closer and won by the final margin of 18 points.
The Boilermakers put four players in double-figures, led by Jodi Howell and Danielle Campbell with 13 points each. Wisdom-Hylton scored 12 and Lakisha Freeman contributed 10 points. FahKara Malone had nine points and Brittany Rayburn scored eight points off the bench.
Purdue held Penn State's leading scorer, Tyra Grant, six below her scoring average. The junior guard picked up four fouls early in the second half and scored just 14 points. Julia Trogele contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Boilermakers have a bye and will not play on Sunday. They return to action on Thursday in their only matchup of the regular season against Michigan. The game is the senior night celebration and will tipoff at 7 p.m. in Mackey Arena.
