Purdue Tops Northwestern 70-44

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In a game in which Purdue never trailed, the women's basketball team beat Northwestern 70-44 to move to 15-7 on the season and 8-3 in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers forced 23 turnovers, leading to 24 points.

After taking a 10-point lead into the locker room at halftime, the Boilermakers opened the second half on a 13-2 run and outscored the Wildcats 40-24 in the second half, giving Purdue its second-largest margin of victory on the season.

Junior Jodi Howell led all Purdue scorers with 15 points on 3 of 5 shooting, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. Howell set career highs for free throws made and attempted by finishing 7 of 9 from the charity stripe. She also contributed two rebounds, one assist and steal.

Senior Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton finished with 13 points, four assists and four rebounds. Her four boards moves her past Donna Gill for second place all-time in career rebounding at Purdue.

Senior Lakisha Freeman chipped in 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Danielle Campbell ended the game with four points, four assists, two steals and two blocks, moving her past Christa LaCroix for fourth for Boilermaker career blocks.

Freshman Brittany Rayburn finished with eight points, three assists and a steal, while Chantel Poston scored six points and pulled down one rebound.

No Northwestern player reached double-figure scoring in the game. The Wildcats were led by sophomore Amy Jaeschke who fouled out at the 6:07 mark with nine points and three rebounds. Kristin Cartwright and Ellen Jaeschke scored eight points each.

The Boilermakers will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 5 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Ohio State at 7 p.m.
