WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior FahKara Malone hit a game-tying three-pointer with 24 second left in the second half, but Michigan State outscored Purdue 9-3 in overtime to deal the Boilermakers their first Big Ten loss of the season with a 68-62 win at Mackey Arena on Thursday.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Purdue (8-5, 2-1 Big Ten) and marked just the fifth win ever for MSU (9-5, 2-1 Big Ten) in Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers dropped to 0-2 in overtime games this season with the loss.

Having rallied from an early 10-point deficit with 16-4 run in the second half, Purdue was held scoreless for nearly an eight-minute stretch to pave the way for a Spartan comeback.

Trailing 51-43, Michigan State took advantage of the Boilermakers' shooting woes to score 12 unanswered points and regain the advantage at 55-51 with 2:23 left to play in regulation.

Purdue's Brittany Rayburn finally cracked the scoring drought at 2:05 and pulled the Boilermakers within one at 57-56 after making a shot and the ensuing free throw after getting fouled.

MSU's Allyssa DeHann, who finished with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, pushed the Spartan lead back to three with a successful field goal with 42 seconds to play.

After a Purdue timeout, Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton found Malone wide open on the wing for the game-tying three, but saw her desperation shot at the buzzer hit the back of the rim and fall out to force overtime.

MSU's Britteny Thomas poured in five of her nine total points in the extra five minutes and DeHann added four points, a rebound and a block in overtime to help the Spartans coast to the victory.

Purdue's Danielle Campbell tied her season-high with 15 points to lead all Boilermaker players. Malone added 10 points of a pair of three-points and a perfect 4 for 4 from the foul line.

The Boilermakers will return to action on January 5, when they host No. 4 Texas at Mackey Arena. Tip time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised live nationally on ESPN2.
