WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 16 Purdue men's swimming and diving team notched another dominating victory on Saturday, this time defeating Eastern Michigan, 239.50-108.50. The Boilermakers won eight of ten events en route to the victory.
David Boudia posted another huge number, this time on the 3-meter board. His score of 495.30 was good for both a program and pool record. Danny Cox finished second in the event, coming in at 342.60
On the swimming side, the 200 medley relay team picked up a win for the Boilermakers. Tim Watts, Aaron Koger, Jimmy Brooks and Andrew Langenfeld swam a 1:31.13 for the victory.
"Our relays are really important to us this year and all of our relays got faster today," head coach Dan Ross said. "I thought our 200 medley would be a little bit faster, but it was still our best this year."
Purdue won six individual events, as well. Sean Davis was solid in the 1000 free, swimming a 9:41.78 for the win. Andrew Langenfeld was fast in the 50 free, clocking in at 20.69 for another victory. Mike Hedge made it four in a row, with a win in the 100 back. Hedge came in at 52.75.
Aaron Koger continued rolling along in the 200 breast, crushing the rest of the field. His time of 2:01.73 was almost five seconds quicker than second place.
Jimmy Brooks and John Schmitt gave the Boilermakers their last two wins of the day, coming in the 100 fly and 200 free, respectively. Brooks edged out the victory by .31, coming in at 50.32. Schmitt clocked in at 1:38.75.
"It's kind of nice to do this going into next week when we're going up against a bunch of ranked teams. I think after this weekend, both in swimming and diving, we're right where we need to be," Ross said.
The Purdue men (4-0) hit the water again next weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational. The meet runs from Nov. 21-23.
The Boilermakers will also host Indianapolis at 6 p.m. ET on Friday. Check purduesports.com for more updates.
