EAST LANSING, Mich. - With one more day of play remaining at the ITA Midwest Regional, the Purdue women's tennis team has been eliminated. Fortunately, the Boilermakers got some solid play out of both singles and doubles over the weekend.

The story for Purdue was redshirt junior Tatiana Ganzha. On Friday, she took a hard fought win over Annie McCarthy (Illinois) 7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-6 (4) to advance to the singles main draw.

The following day, she won her first round match over Cami Hubbs (Ohio State). After losing the first set, 4-6, she came back to take the next two, 6-2, 6-2. She went on to lose her second round match, but tallied a 4-1 singles record for the weekend.

Junior Michelle Sammons began her run in the main draw and won her first round match over Rachael Hush (Marquette), 6-1, 6-3. She lost her second round match in a heartbreaker, however, 4-6, 6-7 (9), to Kerstin Pahl (Western Michigan).

After losing in the first round, senior Stephanie Wooten and sophomore Joanna Craven each won their consolation matches. Wooten defeated Tijana Koprivica (Minnesota) 6-3, 6-4 and Craven rebounded by taking out Selma Salkovic (DePaul) 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).

In doubles play, the team of Craven and freshman Remi Martin fell in their first match but defeated Cristesu and McPhillips (Illinois-Chicago) 8-5 in the consolation bracket.

Wooten and Sammons also lost their first round match, but rolled over Tatsuno and Sulahian (Michigan), 8-3, in a consolation match.

Play resumes today in East Lansing, Mich. at 9 a.m. ET with the doubles championship match. This afternoon, the final two singles rounds will be played.

The Boilermakers have one more tournament this fall, their own Purdue Invitational, on Nov. 7-9. Check purduesports.com for more updates.
