EAST LANSING, Mich. - Action got underway yesterday at the ITA Midwest Regionals and the Purdue women's tennis team fared quite well. The Boilermakers posted a 4-2 record on the day, advancing three players into the second round of singles play.
Redshirt junior Tatiana Ganzha rolled through her first round match with Zeljka Minic (Detroit), 6-2, 6-2. She found a little more resistance in the second round, but still came out a winner over Kari Wig (Michigan), 6-1, 7-6 (5).
Freshmen Anya Dushkina and Jennifer Rabot each won their first round matches before falling in the second round. Dushkina defeated Molly Casperson (Butler), 7-6 (2), 6-1. Rabot took out Elena Ivanova (Michigan State), 7-5, 6-2.
Coach Laura Glitz's squad competes again today in East Lansing, Mich. The first slate of singles matches begin at 9 a.m. ET with doubles play commencing at 2 p.m. ET.
