Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Purdue women's tennis team finished their opening weekend of the fall season with some solid performances in both singles and doubles.

Sophomore Joanna Craven won three matches to advance all the way to the black flight championship. Senior Stephanie Wooten also won three matches in the black flight.

Junior Michelle Sammons ran off three straight victores in the black flight consolation bracket after losing her first match of the weekend.

Redshirt juinor Tatiana Ganzha and freshman Kay Kay Magi competed in the brown flight consolation bracket. Magi advanced to the final after winning three straight, while Ganzha went 1-2.

Competing in the gold flight were freshmen Anya Dushkina, Jennifer Rabot and Remi Martin. Dushkina won three consecutive matches before falling in the flight finals. Rabot and Martin both lost their first match before winning two and one match respectively in the gold flight consolation bracket.

In doubles action, the team of Sammons and Rabot won three matches to advance to the silver flight championship. Martin and Craven won two in the same flight.
