BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue Nine suffered a 13-1 loss on Monday afternoon at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers at Sembower Field, handing the Boilermakers its first lost series of the Big Ten season.

With the loss the Boilermakers are now 26-20 overall and 17-7 in conference action. Purdue remains in second place behind Michigan (20-4) and ahead of Illinois (13-10 entering a Monday evening game).

The Boilermakers were victimized by the big inning on Monday as Indiana took control of a 2-1 games in the fifth inning with a six-run frame on a grand slam and a two-run double.

Purdue's offense was able to connect for base hits throughout the afternoon against IU starter Tyler Tufts, picking up 11 hits. However, the Boilers only mustered one extra-base hit and stranded 10 runners on base.

Purdue's lone run came in the third inning on a RBI single by Ryne White that drove home Brandon Haveman from second base. That run cut a two-run IU lead in half, but the Boilermakers would not get any closer.

The Boilermakers return to the road on Wednesday evening for a non-conference matchup against Indiana State in Terre Haute before continuing Big Ten play next weekend at home with a four-game series against Michigan State.
