GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Purdue's 12th ranked men's swimming and diving team was edged by No. 5 Florida 137-125 in the Boilermakers' first dual of 2008.

The Old Gold and Black's overall performance was one of its best ever against a top-five opponent, collecting a pair of relay victories, a sweep of the breaststroke events, plus additional victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

Junior Andrew Langenfeld led the Boilermakers with individual wins in the 50 free and 100 fly. The West Virginia transfer also was part of the winning 200 free and medley relays.

Langenfeld hit the wall in 20.71 in the 50 free and 48.91 in the 100 fly.

Purdue began the night with a convincing win the 200 medley, beating the Gators by more than a full second, 1:31.16 to 1:32.42. Langenfeld was joined on this relay by Ilia Ayzenshtok, Aaron Koger and Eddie Kenney.

The Boilermakers' momentum was short lived as Florida responded with three-straight wins in the 1000 free, 200 free and 100 back.

The Gators later claimed triumphs in the 200 fly, 200 back, 500 free and 400 individual medley.

Koger placed the Boilermakers back on track as he and teammate Jin-Soo Kim combined for a one-two showing in the 100 breast, posting times of 56.10 and 56.72. Kim later claimed the top spot in the 200 breast with a mark of 2:01.63.
