STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Robbie Hummel had 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and Purdue defeated Penn State 64-42 Wednesday night.
Namanja Calasan and E'Twaun Moore each added 11 points for the Boilermakers (14-5, 5-1 Big Ten), who won their fourth straight.
Mike Walker scored 10 points for Penn State (10-8, 2-4).
Purdue held Penn State to just 18 points in the first half. That was the Nittany Lions' lowest scoring half since they managed 17 points in the first half against Iowa on March 1, 2006.
Purdue used a 25-6 run in the first half to build a 39-18 lead by halftime.
Penn State's offense continued to struggle in the second half. The Nittany Lions didn't hit a shot until Jamelle Cornley's basket made it 48-20 with 13:38.
Purdue, which entered the game as the Big Ten's best 3-point shooting team, hit 11 shots from long range.
The loss was Penn State's fourth in a row. Two of those games have been played without Geary Claxton, the Lions' leading scorer and rebounder who sustained a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 15.
Claxton is expected to have surgery on his knee on Jan. 30.
