CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- Owls' Ashley Morris scored 19 points to help Temple beat Purdue 61-47 on Saturday in the Paradise Jam.

Morris scored five of her points during a 12-2 run that put the Owls ahead 45-29 with 11:25 to play in the game.

LaKeisha Eaddy added nine points for Temple (2-3), and Shenita Landry had eight points and eight rebounds.

The Owls, who lost to No. 9 Duke 64-53 on Friday night, won the inside by outrebounding the Boilermakers 40-35 and scoring 26 points in the paint.

Danielle Campbell led Purdue (2-2) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Kalika France added eight points.

Temple jumped out to a 16-6 lead on a 3-pointer from Dawnnae Roberts 9:10 into the game. The Owls shot 46 percent from the floor in the first half and led 31-23 at the break.

The Boilermakers narrowed the deficit to six at 33-27, but the Owls responded immediately with the run keyed by a 3-pointer and a layup from Morris.

The Boilermakers stayed in the game by going 15-for-17 from the free-throw line and scoring 10 points off 14 Temple turnovers.
