EVANSTON, Ill. - A season filled with struggles on the field was made complete on Sunday afternoon at Rocky Miller Park as the Purdue Boilermakers lost their season finale to Northwestern 11-6.

The Boilermakers ended the season with a record of 22-32, the lowest win total by a Doug Schreiber-coached Purdue squad.

Northwestern did not waste time putting the pressure on the Boilermakers, scoring two runs in the first and three in the third. Two more big innings by the Wildcats made the score 11-0 after six innings.

The Boilermakers scratched across a run in the seventh inning on an RBI grounder by Spencer Ingaldson that drove in John Cummins from third. Cummins had led off the inning with a double to right-center.

A four-run Purdue eighth cut the deficit to six, but the Boilermakers could get no closer as the season came to a close. The Purdue eighth inning featured RBI hits by Cummins, Alex Jaffee and Ryne White.

A review of the 2007 season and a look at the updated Purdue baseball record book will come in the next week.
