WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Boilermakers played host to the 23rd-ranked Michigan Wolverines Saturday at the Schwartz Tennis Center. The Boilers fell by a score of 6-1 to give them a record of 10-5, 3-2 Big Ten; Michigan improved to 11-5, 5-1 Big Ten.
The Wolverines came away with the doubles point as they claimed two of three matches. At the No. 1 position the 45th-ranked Boiler team of Sophomore Mallory Voelker and Junior Brooke Beier came through by beating their Michigan counterparts of Jenny Keuhn and Chisako Sugiyama by a score of 8-4. Beier and Voelker raised their record to 9-5 this spring.
At No. 5 singles sophomore Anna Dzeva claimed the point by beating Wolverine Elizabeth Exon in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Dzeva improved her record to 10-4 and 4-1 against Big Ten opponents.
The Boilers are back in action on Sunday, April 8th against the Nittany Lions of Penn State. The action starts at 11 a.m. at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
