ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan scored early and often against the Purdue Nine on Sunday, handing the Boilermakers a 10-1 defeat in the Big Ten series finale at Ray Fisher Stadium.
The Wolverines scored eight times in the first four innings, including four runs in the third inning, to take control of the conference contest.
Purdue (17-17, 7-8 Big Ten) pushed across its lone run in the fifth inning on a Spencer Ingaldson double down the left field line, driving in Carlos Pupo from second base.
Dan Sattler was hit with the loss in 3.0 innings of work. Sattler (1-3) allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits. Three Boilermakers out of the bullpen combined for 5.0 innings, allowing eight hits and four runs.
John Cummins and Dan Black each registered two-hit performances for the Boilermakers.
Michigan out-hit the Boilermakers 13-10, while Purdue stranded 13 runners on base.
Purdue returns home for its next Big Ten series beginning Friday, April 27, against Ohio State. The Boilermakers do not have a midweek game on the schedule before the OSU series.
