Another Name For NCAA's

March 5, 2007

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Danny Cox added his name to Purdue's NCAA roster during the second day of action at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships.

Cox, a freshman from Menomonee Falls, Wis., claimed the third of seven allocations with his second-place finish off the 3-meter springboard with 663.75 points. Cox's 12-dive total was comprised of 331.35 points in prelims and 332.40 points in finals.

Two allocations remain on the men's side, one of which is reserved for the winner of Sunday's platform. The only way the Boilermakers can qualify another diver is to win the final competition or receive help from those who've already earned allocations.

Although the full Boilermaker roster won't make it to Minneapolis for NCAA's, all five have finished among the top 18 finalists the last two days - and probably will do so again off the tower.

Amanda Miller was the lone Boilermaker on the women's side to reach the finals off the 1-meter springboard; the senior earned a second-place total of 614.35 points. Indiana's Christina Loukas completed the springboard sweep at Zones with her 12-dive total of 652.10 points.

Miller earned just 284.05 points in prelims, but came back strong in finals with 330.30 points.

With three more allocations still remaining, Purdue has a fair shot of adding another name to its NCAA roster either by winning or placing second off the tower.
