WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -Mia Johnson hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to help Michigan State beat No. 13 Purdue 54-52 on Sunday.

Aisha Jefferson led the Spartans (19-6, 10-2 Big Ten) with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Rene Haynes scored 11 points and Johnson added 10 points. It was the Spartans fourth straight win and moved them into a tie with Purdue for second place in the conference.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton led Purdue with 15 points, 10 rebounds and a school-record nine blocks. Jodi Howell added 12 points for the Boilermakers (21-5, 10-2). Purdue lost for the second time in four games. The Boilermakers led by as many as 17 points in the first half in front of a crowd of 9,667.

The Spartans outrebounded the Boilermakers 47-34 and forced 20 turnovers. Michigan State held Purdue to 28 percent shooting in the second half.

Purdue took a 12-point halftime lead, but Michigan State cut it to 41-39 on a jumper by Victoria Lucas-Perry with 9:38 left and tied the game on a layup by Jefferson with 8 minutes to go. Johnson finally gave the Spartans a 44-42 lead on a 3-pointer by Johnson with 5:47 left. Michigan State came back by holding Purdue without a field goal for an almost nine-minute stretch during the second half.

The Spartans stretched their lead to 51-46 on a free throw by Johnson with 2:18 left.

Purdue's Katie Gearlds scored on a short jumper, then Howell got a steal and passed while on her knees to a wide open Gearlds streaking downcourt. Gearlds' layup cut Michigan State's lead to 51-50 with 1:50 left.

Purdue took a 52-51 lead on a jumper by Wisdom-Hylton with 23 seconds left. Wisdom-Hylton had a chance to put the Boilermakers up by three, but she missed the front end of a one-and-one with 10.4 seconds left. The Spartans quickly worked the ball downcourt to set up Johnson's shot. Purdue, out of timeouts, never got a final shot off.
