EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - FahKara Malone scored 13 points and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton added 12 to lead No. 12 Purdue to a 73-41 victory over Northwestern on Thursday night.
Katie Gearlds and Wisdom-Hylton each had five steals for Purdue (17-3, 6-0 Big Ten), and Gearlds added seven assists. Erin Lawless had 10 points, going 6-of-6 from the free throw line, and three steals.
Reserve Beth Marshall finished with nine points, seven rebounds and three steals for Northwestern (6-13, 0-6), and Kristin Cartwright also scored nine points off the bench.
Northwestern was behind the entire game, but its troubles worsened in the second half, when the Boilermakers extended a 34-22 halftime lead to 63-36 with less than 5 minutes to play.
Northwestern coach Beth Combs pinned the loss on a lack of heart.
"(Purdue) had a heart advantage today," she said. "We are disappointed with our team today."
The Wildcats had 28 turnovers to Purdue's 15.
