WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -Katie Gearlds scored 22 points and broke the Purdue record for career 3-pointers in the No. 13 Boilermakers' 79-35 victory over Michigan on Thursday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Gearlds was 5-of-9 from 3-point range to push her career total to 186 and break the mark of 183 set by Stephanie White from 1996-99. Gearlds set the record with a long-range shot from the left wing in the closing seconds of the first half.

Erin Lawless added 18 points, and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had eight points, 12 rebounds and six blocks for Purdue (12-2). It was Purdue's 16th straight win against Michigan.

Kelly Helvey led Michigan (7-7) with nine points.

The Boilermakers held the Wolverines to 24 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers. It was Michigan's lowest point total of the season and the fewest points Purdue has allowed this season.

Purdue has won four in a row since a loss to Notre Dame earlier this month that dropped the Boilermakers out of the Top 10.

The Boilermakers led 37-20 at the break. Wisdom-Hylton had six points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots in the first 20 minutes.
