WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Marcus Green scored 15 points, David Teague had 14 and Carl Landry added 13 to help Purdue beat Western Carolina 82-57 on Friday night.
Antonio Russell led Western Carolina with 15 points and Nick Aldredge added 12.
The Boilermakers (2-0) shot 12-for-27 from 3-point range and held the Catamounts (1-1) to 31 percent shooting.
Purdue led by double figures through most of the first half, but Brigham Waginger tried to give the Catamounts some momentum on a fast break in the closing seconds. Purdue's Chris Kramer caught up with him and swatted his shot hard against the backboard, and the Boilermakers led 41-24 at the break.
The Boilermakers limited the Catamounts to 24 percent shooting in the first half.
Western Carolina opened the second half with an 8-1 run to cut Purdue's lead to 42-32, but a 3-pointer by Chris Lutz and a putback by Green helped the Boilermakers quickly regain control.
Purdue led 60-47 before going on an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach.
