COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue Nine could not knock an Ohio State pitcher from the mound on Saturday as the Buckeyes swept a Big Ten twinbill from the Boilermakers at Bill Davis Stadium, 4-0 and 4-1.

Both games of the doubleheader resulted in complete-game victories for the OSU starting pitchers.

Dan Sattler (3-6) was hit with the loss in game one despite pitching a complete game without allowing an earned run.

With the game tied in the fifth inning, OSU scored four unearned runs after the inning began with an error at third base. It was the third error of the game for the Boilermakers. With two down in the inning, the Buckeyes picked up a two-run double by Matt Angle and RBI singles by Ronnie Bourquin and Jedidiah Stephen.

That was all the offense OSU would need as starter Cory Luebke retired the final nine batters in order for the win.

In the nightcap, the Boilermakers scored first with a safety squeeze by Eric Nielsen, scoring Ryne White from third base. However, the lone run would not hold up.

OSU scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning and added two more runs in the fifth to build a 4-1 lead, an advantage the Buckeyes would keep behind the pitching of Jake Hale.

Hale (3-3) recorded the complete-game win by allowing just three Purdue hits.

On the afternoon, the Boilermakers managed just one run and eight hits in 14 innings, falling to 22-18 overall and 8-11 in Big Ten action.

The Boilermakers and Buckeyes complete the four-game series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. as Trae Dauby takes the mound for Purdue to face OSU's J.B. Shuck.
