Final Stats

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 61 Northwestern on Saturday. The loss brought the Boilermakers' record to 7-12 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats, meanwhile, improved to 11-8 and 5-3 with the victory.

Purdue got off to a good start by claiming the doubles point. Sophomore Eric Hodgman and freshman Griffin Nienberg combined to defeat Willy Lock and Christian Tempke 8-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, the freshman pair of Jose Fuenmayor and Kelubia Mabatah beat Juan Gomez and Marc Dwyer 9-8.

Unfortunately, the Boilermakers could not continue their success in singles, as Northwestern reeled off six straight individual victories to win the team match.

Purdue will return to action Sunday at Wisconsin. The Boilermakers and Badgers are scheduled to begin at noon in Madison.
