WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team lost its fourth consecutive match on Sunday afternoon in Lexington to Kentucky by a 5-2 decision. The loss makes the 71st-ranked Boilermakers 4-4 on the season after beginning its spring season 4-0.
Purdue won the doubles point behind the play of Eric Hodgman and Patrick Rose at the No. 1 spot. They defeated Nate Emge and Alex Hume 8-5. At the No. 3 position Colin Foster and Kurt Zaske defeated Greg Johnstone and Carey Rubin by a score of 8-3.
Singles didn't go as well for the Boilermakers, dropping five of six matches. The lone victory for Purdue came at the No. 5 spot when Kurt Zaske defeated Gregory Anderson 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.
Purdue will begin its Big Ten season next weekend when it hosts two matches. On Feb. 25, Penn State will come to Lafayette to face the Boilermakers at 1 p.m. Purdue will also host Indiana on Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Lafayette Sports Center.
